79 Yamaha DT-250 wont start???
i have a 1979 Yamaha DT-250 and it was working fine and the finally the stock reed's froze or got stuck. so i ordered a pair of after market Boyesen Stage 2 reeds. i put them on and now it wont start. i can get a "put" out of it but it won start. everything like the electrical system and everything works fine. i get a strong Blue Spark and am getting gas and oil. clean air filter. can i or should i try to start it with starting fluid. i herd hat that is bad for the motor. what do i do?
pull plug out, depress kill switch, kick thru about a dozen times. reinstall spark plug and try again. personally, I would put a fresh spark plug in it.
are you sure you installed the new reeds to where they are seating properly? and everything tight... might be sucking air around the boot where the reeds are located screwing up the air / fuel mixture. likewise, inspect that boot very carefully for any hair line cracks as those cause alot of issues on older bikes unless it's been replaced...
